Halen Môn / Anglesey Sea Salt


Halen Mon approaches their business with financial, social and environmental sustainability at its core. The production of sea salt is a very energy intensive process but Halen Mon are committed to reducing their carbon footprint year on year and have therefore introduced a Building Monitoring System (BMS) to measure consumption of electricity, gas and water to minimise energy use. They are also committed to improving biodiversity and have purchased a 4 acre green field to grow a range of plant species to encourage a variety of insects and birds in the area. Halen Mon are very involved with the local community sitting on lots of committees and leading a number of schemes. The Saltcote and Visitor Centre won the 2015 National Gold Award Winner for ‘The Built Environment and Architectural Heritage’ in the international Green Apple Awards which recognises, rewards and promotes environmental best practice around the world. In January 2016 Halen Mon was awarded the Rural Wales Award for the care of the local environment by the Campaign for the Protection of Rural Wales.


Principality Building Society


Principality Building Society is the largest building society in Wales. They are owned by and run for the benefit of their Members; savers and borrowers. Being a responsible business is at the heart of how Principality works; both as a financial services provider to Members and as an employer. This year the Principality initiative “Moving Forward with Mind Cymru” was all about improving the organisations understanding around mental health and promoting wellbeing. Their charity campaign this year for Mind Cymru raised over £90,000 through a number of challenging events and activities and has championed the Time To Change Wales campaign. Following their year with Mind Cymru, Principality launched a new Corporate Social Responsibility policy designed to help communities across Wales as much as possible.

Enterprise car club

Enterprise is the largest hire car company in the world, providing mobility and transportation services ranging from a 15 minute Car Club rental, to a 3 year Refrigerated Truck hire. Enterprise is a family owned company built on strong values, aiming to be a very much a local company, employing local people to serve their local communities. Enterprise works with business partners such as local authorities and NHS Trusts on more cost effective and sustainable travel. Enterprise has a ‘Founding Values’ Committee that works towards targets relating to Environmental Stewardship, Community Engagement, Philanthropy, Business Ethics, Workplace Quality, Government Relations, and Diversity and Inclusion.  Enterprise have achieved a reduction of energy and water and aims to decrease overall paper usage in keeping with the global Enterprise pledge to plant 50 million trees over 50 years to offset their environmental footprint.
