Emergence - Eginiad

Emergence - Eginiad is a partnership project instigated by Cynnal Cymru to engage the arts community on the issues of climate change and sustainable development.

The project forms part of Cynnal Cymru’s wider aim to work with partner organisations to increase learning and action on sustainable development.

Through a series of conferences, arts professionals and scientists were enabled to exchange knowledge and perspectives and were introduced to the Welsh Government’s aims and vision, defined in One Wales: One Planet.

Facilitated by Cynnal Cymru, a partnership approach between BRASS, Julies Bicycle and Creu Cymru, aims to improve venues’ environmental impacts. This will involve a shift in behaviours by venue managers, staff and partners, and increased awareness among audiences.

In 2012, Volcano and the Centre for Alternative Technology, supported by Cynnal Cymru, will stage a major international Emergence summit at which artists and scientists will establish a common approach to the creation and delivery of a low carbon, sustainable society.

Project partners included Volcano theatre company, British Council and the Arts Council of Wales
