Mark Wilson has the humble carpet tile to thank for his career, from making the product, marketing and selling it, running a flooring business and working for an interior design company. He is currently responsible for promoting Balsan, the market leader for carpet in France, across South Wales, South and South West UK, which is an exciting and interesting challenge as the company has great potential in the UK with a range of environmentally responsible, beautifully made and designed carpet for the home, the office and for hospitality.
As a Sustainability Ambassador at his previous employer, Mark co-founded the award-winning Greenstream, based in Wales; one of the largest carpet tile re-use and recycling facilities in Europe, which diverts many tonnes of landfill of carpet tiles, but more importantly; it creates employment opportunities and brings warmth, comfort and dignity to local people, often to those who are in difficult circumstances, by helping to provide a floor-covering in their home.
He enjoys travelling in Wales and the South West, meeting customers. He especially enjoys a visit when he can photograph a city and if time allows, have a run around the place. He lives in Chepstow and after many seasons, he still plays 11-a-side football for his local side Thornwell, where is well-known in the East Gwent League for scoring from the half-way line at Tintern with his first touch of the game. As well as trying to create a viable vegetable garden with his children, he is also attempting to grow and give away a million cacti in his lifetime.
