New Welsh wind farm to provide secure, home-grown energy

DECC have approved plans for a new wind farm for the Pen Y Cymoedd project in South Wales, comprising 76 turbines with a generating capacity of 299MW, enough electricity to power the equivalent of up to 206,000 homes a year. A community benefits package has also been pledged which includes £3m for habitat management and £6,000 a year per megawatt to a Community Trust Fund.
