04 Jan 2012 - Report
Author(s): WWF

This WWF report, Positive Energy, shows how renewable energy could meet the vast majority of our energy needs by 2030. The report found that with a strong focus on renewables and energy efficiency, it’s possible to make large cuts in greenhouse gas emissions and maintain a secure energy supply without resorting to new nuclear power.  It reveals that renewable sources of energy could meet between 60-90% of the UK’s electricity demand by 2030, and recommends that the UK government sets its target at no less than 60% for renewable energy generation to provide certainty for investors.
