The Sustainable Futures Commissioner is holding a roundtable on the issue of “More than GDP - Measuring What Matters” on June 9th from 2:00 to 4:30pm.
The focus for the event will be a report prepared by a Scottish Round Table established by the Carnegie UK Trust and Sustainable Development Commission Scotland, to look in more detail at how to better measure economic and social progress in Scotland. The report takes the findings of the 2009 Stiglitz report which emerged from the Commission set up by President Sarkozy to advise on how better measure progress and applies them to the current practice of national reporting in Scotland.
The report recommendations will be presented by Professor Jan Bebbington Professor of Accounting and Sustainable Development University of St Andrews, who chaired the Scottish Round Table.
The Welsh Round Table will be held with a view to drawing out the implications and recommendations of this work for the new government in Wales.
