18 May | Achieving the SDG’s Within the Curriculum
Following on from our successful 2017 workshop which presented an overview of Dr. Ron Johnston’s work with UNESCO MGIEP “Textbooks for Sustainable Development : A Guide to Embedding”, The Art of Sustainability will once again collaborate with Ron Johnston to explore a range of methods and approaches to embedding Education for Sustainable Development ESD into core subjects with particular reference to science as a core subject following the theme :
An evaluation of the surprising underestimation / under-representation of the role of science education in achieving the sustainable development goals identified in the United Nations Agenda 2030 document.
Steven England, Founder of The Art of Sustainability and a Gaia Education trainer will then build on this, leading experiential activities exploring practical applications informed by and supporting the guidelines proposed in the first session. Gaia Education is a Key Partner of UNESCO Global Action Programme on Education for Sustainable Development- ESD.
Participants are invited to explore the subject material and make connections with their own experiences and subject areas.
This will be of particular interest though not exclusive to those involved in delivering changes to the Welsh curriculum – Welsh Government, New School Curriculum
